Three for Thursday: Featured Posts for 10/11/12

It’s time for another Three for Thursday. Below you will find three blog posts that we really enjoyed.

Mental Health

CS Lewis on Soul Rats

Brad Hambrick manages one of my favorite blogs. Brad is the Pastor of Counseling at The Summit Church, and his blog offers some fantastic insights about human nature, overcoming sin, and how people change. In this post, he offers an observation from CS Lewis: we know who we “really are” in the moments we are caught off guard. Awesome insight.

Homeschool

Charting the Suns Movement in the Sky

This post, from Amy at LivingandLearningatHome.com, caught my attention because Bradley is learning about astronomy this year. Luke had so much fun teaching the high school Astronomy class through our local homeschool co-op, Coram Deo, that he volunteered to teach the 3rd and 4th grade science class at Coram Deo this year.  He is using the astronomy curriculum from Apologia to teach and I think he’s having more fun with this class than he did the high school class!

This is really quite a simple activity, but I think the hands on aspect well help kids grasp an understanding of how the sun moves in our sky. Another thing I like about it is that I can do this activity with both Bradley and Cameron. There aren’t too many activities that you can do with a 4 year old and an 8 year old. We haven’t done this yet, but we will be soon!

Physical Health

Saturation Be Damned

At PrimalMedEd.com you will find a fascinating and informative article comparing natural fat sources to the industrial oils (such as margarine and canola oil) so highly touted in the standard American diet.  What does the science say? What’s does the evidence show? Check this article out and see for yourself!

We hope you’ll enjoy checking out these great posts. Have you seen any fantastic posts this week that you think we’d enjoy? Please let us know in the comments!
