Sleep is an important part of a health routine. If you have trouble falling asleep, good night herbal tea blend may just do the trick!
I’ve always been a big fan of sleep. Truly, I never had issues going to bed when I needed to because I know how much of a bear I can be when I don’t get enough sleep in. Somewhere along the line after having kids and suffering from adrenal fatigue, sleep seemed to take a back seat.
Adrenal fatigue has been my nemesis for a few years now. You see, no matter how tired I can be, I just can’t lay down to sleep. My functional doctor said it’s like my body and mind are walking on a treadmill 24 hours a day and can’t seem to step off.
And as you tell your kids, you need sleep. Why? Because your body does needs rest. God made your body to repair and regenerate during those precious hours of sleep.
Thankfully, I found relief with herbs, essential oils and and other supplements. I start my wind down routine with dry skin brushing, a good soak in a salty bath and I often bring this good night herbal tea blend in with me. I have found this blend helps to calm my mind down and along with the bath, I can fall asleep soon after I hit the pillow.
Good night herbal tea blend
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons chamomile
- 1 teaspoon hibiscus
- 1/2 teaspoon oatstraw
- 1/4 teaspoon Valerian
Instructions
- Mix herbs and cover with 16 ounces of boiling water.
- Let steep for 10 minutes, then strain.
- Add raw honey as needed for flavor.
Notes
If you are not a fan of hot tea, you can also make an herbal infusion by putting the herbs in a quart of room temperature water in the morning, then by evening you can strain it out and drink before bed.
Valerian is not the tastiest herb, to have fair warning here, but it works wonders for sleep. You can also add a bit at a time until you are used to the taste!
I love using herbs because the body assimilates them better than synthetic vitamins. There are also full of minerals which are great for the body. This good night herbal tea blend has been great for everyone in my home.
