I love making gifts for my family, but I’m not a very crafty type. That makes many of the DIY gifts floating around on the Internet pretty difficult. At Christmas, I was able to come up with a gift idea—I made our parents seasoning mixes (taco seasoning, chili seasoning, and ranch mix). They turned out very tasty!
So, for Mother’s day I set out to find a great DIY gift idea.
What a cool idea for a book: Simple Scrubs to Make and Give. WOW! I love the recipes in this book. I can’t wait to try more of them. I especially love these recipes because they aren’t filled with the chemicals that are so prevalent in store-bought versions.
For the purpose of my mother’s day gift basket I made the lemon-lime scrub and invigorating foot scrub. They really make the perfect combination—a general, all-purpose body scrub with a more exfoliating scrub for tired calloused footsies (as we like to refer to them in our home). 🙂.
Invigorating Foot Scrub Recipe
You should note, this scrub uses salt which is more abrasive than the sugar called for in many scrub recipes. This recipe is not suitable for use on the entire body.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fine sea salt or Epsom salt
- 1⁄4 oil (grape seed, sweet almond or olive)
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1 tablespoon dried peppermint leaves (These make it fun, but could be left out. If you don’t have any dried peppermint on hand, break open a peppermint tea bag).
Directions
- Measure salt into a clean bowl.
- Add oil and stir until it is distributed evenly.
- Add peppermint leaves and essential oil. Stir again. Scoop into a clear jar.
After you making your scrubs, add a label and wrap it around your jar with some pretty ribbon. Find a cute basket, add a pumice stone or loofah, and you’ll have a pretty gift that will pamper mom!.
What are you giving Mom for mothers day?
